Last week, we announced CimplControl’s world premiere at the CIO Synergy meeting in Toronto. Today, we expand a bit further into how CimplControl will change life at work for everyone in a modern company, from CIO all the way down to the average employee/end user. Let’s get started, shall we?
So first, let’s do a quick recap on the major features of CimplControl. With CimplControl, you’ll be able to:

Now that that’s done, I cast your attention back to a series of posts we published at the end of 2014. Remember our discussions on the Enterprise Digital Footprint and the technology visions of the future? Well, we’re putting it into practice with CimplControl!
What is the relationship between CimplControl and the Enterprise Digital Footprint?
The Enterprise Digital Footprint is, if you remember, a framework that categorizes all IT assets, services, and expenses using just one classification scheme. Basically, you’re putting information about everything you have in a single repository. It sets the context for you to be able to manage everything without confusing duplications.
It also gets rid of visibility gaps in your inventory. Whereas using a collection of services (e.g., ITAM, ITSM, MDM, etc.) to manage all your IT assets will mean areas of overlap along with holes that none of the managed services address. The EDF takes care of all of this at the same time.
That sounds like a great idea, right? We thought so too, and that’s why the idea is put to good use in CimplControl. Everything is centralized for easy management. Devices, services, and plans (and more) are all stored in one place. There’s much more, of course.
The clearest benefit of CimplControl is that it gives users asset transparency. That is, users will be able to track the identifying information, employee assignment, usage data, costs incurred, and other financially-relevant information of IT assets and services that they need to manage.
In particular, the self-service IT (alternately, “social IT”) mentioned above is an important feature. Essentially, CimplControl allows all employees to do a range of tasks such as device/service validation, reassignment, and retirement (among others). They would also be empowered to do simple procurement requests within pre-approved funding levels or even password resets.
It’s because of this employee interactivity that CimplControl gives you a solid grasp of the employee digital fingerprints in your organization. The fingerprint here refers to the total historical data logged by each and every employee’s use of technology for work purposes.
It’s all being tracked by CimplControl so that you can easily figure out your organizations true usage and needs.
