Cimpl Sponsored a JS Montreal Event and Answered, “What is TEM?”

*Etelesolv changed company names in 2016, and is now called Cimpl.

A meeting of like-minded souls

On January 13, Cimpl sponsored a gathering hosted by JS Montreal. JS Montreal is a group whose express purpose is to allow JavaScript users to meet, exchange ideas, and really learn from one another. We met many JavaScript users from a wide swath of backgrounds. In fact, according to the event organizers, this was the most-attended installment of their gatherings. There were well over 100 people in attendance, all ready and eager to network and to listen and learn from the presenters.

As you may remember, we’ve already sponsored one JS Montreal event. That’s why the record attendance was extra surprising to us – this latest meetup had nearly doubled in audience size! Fortunately, we brought enough beer for everyone!

Of course, we were there to do more than simply provide food and drink. One of our front-end developers, Isabeau (formally, he’s our senior front end software developer engineer), gave a talk that introduced Cimpl to the gathered programmers and developers. He also highlighted the power and elegance of our signature software, Cimpl. It’s certainly one good way to answer the question of “What is TEM (telecom expense management)?” Isabeau then gave all those present a quick glimpse at what life is like for developers at Etelesolv (i.e., both workplace atmosphere and the type of work involved).

We also outlined the JavaScript technologies we use:

  • AngularJS
  • MongoDB
  • RequireJS
  • NodeJS
  • Zurb Foundation
  • IgniteUI
  • Grunt.js
  • Jenkins

We weren’t the only ones to present! Geoff Goodman gave an informative lecture on web development, “Flexible declarative drag and drop for Angular”. Mr. Goodman is a self-taught programmer who provides content for the Plunker site (which he also maintains). Attendees also listened to JS Montreal founder, Bruno Carriere, give a presentation on how to “Pull the trigger on ES6 Modules”. It’s too involved to get into the details of both talks here – leave us say that quite a bit on JavaScript programming was taught and learned!

A tale of stimulating work and exciting career opportunities!

Besides Isabeau (Bergeron), Etelesolv was also represented by programmers Hiton Perantunes and Youssef Tadros. All three were on hand to showcase the innovative technologies that they use to create Cimpl’s cutting edge, next-generation solutions. All of this helped us make many new contacts, all of whom were interesting and who also had excellent insights and suggestions on how we could improve our software. If you missed this event, don’t worry; we can’t wait to sponsor another JS Montreal meeting, so the odds are good you’ll get another chance to meet us soon! And if you can’t wait that long, I invite you to take a look at our Careers page. If you join our team, you’ll see firsthand all the things that make Cimpl stand out! What is TEM?

We also unveiled our latest videos. These videos were montages of Cimpl developers telling stories of their time at the company as well as their impression of our company culture. These were video testimonials that really explained just how Cimpl has managed to maintain a breakneck pace of expansion for the last few years. The formats of the videos were simple and elegant – Cimpl employees individually recounted, on camera, their experience on their first day at Cimpl, and also gave one-word descriptions of the company. Watch the videos to see our employees detail the essence of the company in a fun, playful format!

And so, if all of this intrigues and entices you, you’ll be happy to know that we have job openings! Check out our job listings on our Careers page, and see just why working here is an absolute joy! Join us and become part of a world-class team that works and plays hard in equal measure, even as they invent new technologies every day!
