How to Get a Detailed View of IT Expenses – Think Bill of IT

on April 20, 2017 11:00 AM By | Caroline Le Brun | 0 Comments | Telecom Expense Management IT cost management Value Bills of IT
Bringing the Value of IT to Light For the uninitiated, a bill of IT is a bill of materials which clearly and transparently explains the cost of IT services and devices in a way that’s easily understood by business end-users. If key decision-makers in a business don’t understand how technology gives an edge, then that’s wasted potential. Worse yet, if competitors have recognized the potential, then they will have a serious strategic advantage. That’s why one of the critical functions of IT lies in communicating the value it brings using technology that business people can understand. And in comes the bill of IT to help with that task.

Software Audits: Why You NEED to Care and How to Prepare

…And the answer is, you’re probably not… Ah, software audits. They’re a source of anxiety for organizations, but are, unfortunately, a wholly necessary activity for software creators. Software producers lose at least 10% of their revenue from pirated or unlicensed software use by end users. In concrete numbers, this amounts to $34-64 billion in losses per year for software producers as a whole.

How to Bring Together the CIO and the CMO

on February 11, 2014 8:00 AM By | Caroline Le Brun | 0 Comments | IT Budget SaaS IT cost management Asset management software Bills of IT
Digital technology: The bridge between two worlds The work of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) are currently quite distinct. However, the two roles are linked by digital technology. The CIO uses it to manage and protect company resources and services whereas the CMO uses such technology as a tool for communication, promotion, and sales. To achieve true business efficiency, both C-level executives must put aside their differences and cooperate so as to best use their shared technology pool. The question is, who will break the ice? According to Larry Weber, CEO of the W2 group (a marketing services company), the position of CMO is gradually rising to the top of the business organization chart, leaving the CIO as the more subordinate position. On the other hand, the CMO must further develop technological expertise in order to achieve their objectives.

The IT business is in constant evolution and CIOs must follow to stay in the race! The CIOs have the power to decide how to give their company the options for accomplishing main goals. However, it is not an easy path to go through, to succeed in the realization of such mission they have to know every part of their business and know how things are done. How do you know you are paying too much for your home phone?

on November 30, 2012 10:58 AM By | Caroline Le Brun | 1 Comment | Telecom Expense Management IT cost management Wireline
I recently read an interesting humour statement that asked: "How do you know you are paying too much for your home phone?" Answer: “You have a home phone”. Do you know how much are you paying for your mobile phone, office phone, service on your tablet, PC, internet, and the staggering list of employee dependant devices used on a day to day basis? Let’s now raise the ceiling a little and look at this from an organization’s view point... Recent statistics show that the average number of devices carried by mobile workers is around 3.5 devices and is expected to grow even higher moving into 2013 and beyond. It should also be noted that this statistic is a mobile device tally and does not take into consideration the fixed work assets that these employees may have such as PCs, printers, faxes, etc. How much is it costing you on a global scale and how do you (if you do) keep track?  Are you fully aware of what you own, who has it, how much it costs, and equally important, do you really need these services?

The BYOD Debate – The Employee VS. The IT Department

on October 24, 2012 10:24 AM By | Caroline Le Brun | 0 Comments | BYOD IT cost management
Employee's are Driving BYOD Employees aren’t patient enough to wait around for the company to form committees to decide what technology to invest in while all of their competitors are walking around with the latest tablets, pdas, and mac book airs. They are not interested in attending training sessions to learn complicated technologies that don’t sync up to their contact lists, and itunes accounts. They want the simplest, easiest, and fastest technology and they need it now. They don’t care to wait around for Blackberry hand-me-downs. They want to be able to own their own devices and choose their own custom colored carrying case. They want to blur the lines between work and play, by filling up the conversation pauses of conference calls with text messages to their significant others while simultaneous trying to keep up with their social media followers.
