Many organizations find themselves having to pull or even wait for data from their Telecom Expense Management (TEM) vendor in order to obtain visual graphics outlining key data and information. Businesses will rely on Excel files and spreadsheets to get a visual handle on their data, which can be a long and tedious process. I’ve worked with pivot tables and macros in excel, and you never know when they will give up on you. Viewing data is one thing, but having security measures in place to keep data in the right hands within the company is also an area for concern. This issue often leads to data only being available to certain individuals, leaving others with no visibility of the data pertaining to them. For example, Business Unit Managers need to wait for a report from the IT Director in order to prepare their 2018 Budget. Managers and Employees alike must be able to understand their telecom and technology environment, and how their usage impacts the bottom line of the company.
