In order to better understand what recent software development graduates were looking for in a company, new graduates working in the R&D department here at Cimpl were asked to describe the three best aspects of working at the company. The responses varied slightly but several common threads emerged. Among respondents, the most frequent highlights of being an Cimpl employee included the following elements (obviously, these were shorted for brevity):
- Company culture
- Growth and development opportunities
- The persistent opportunities to learn new things
- Employee empowerment
- Independence (there’s no micromanagement!)
- Working with and developing new technologies on a daily basis.
After sifting through all feedback, the replies were summarized and classified into three categories to neatly describe the rewards of working at Cimpl (for new graduates). These three categories consist of the following:
- Company Culture – Teammates who are as dear as family. A safe, nurturing workplace.
- Personal Growth, Development, and Learning – The chance to use exciting technologies, solve interesting challenges, and invent something new.
- Young Dynamic Environment – An energetic place full of youthful vigor and enthusiasm.
It’s gratifying to know that Cimpl’s core values are apparent even to recent hires. Here at Cimpl, one of our core values is fun and family. This has a serious impact on the company culture. Workers – ranging from the executive team all the way down to the interns, make concerted and honest efforts to act like an extended family. There are very friendly and dynamic relationships among employees that form – easily and persistently. Everyone working at Cimpl is encouraged to have fun with the goal of instituting a genuinely positive atmosphere at all times.
A work/life balance is strongly encouraged, and we do attempt to help each other in good and bad times. To the best of our abilities, we try to make everyone working within the company feel comfortable and to have a positive attitude about coming in to work. As part of that company-wide attitude, we also have a Social Committee – a small group of five or six (depending on availabilities) volunteer employees who donate their time to organizing events ranging from full corporate activities to pot-luck lunches. The official mandate is to have a corporate activity held at each quarter in conjunction with the monthly corporate town hall meeting. The unofficial mandate is to ensure that we continually comply with our corporate core value of Fun and Family. This group is constantly coming up with new ideas to engage and entertain fellow employees. It is for these reasons, among many others, that Cimpl is ranked among the 2014 Top 50 Best Small & Medium Employers.
