We are proud to share the story of one of our first customers on our Cimpl multi-tenant platform for technology and telecom expense management (TEM). To provide some context, they are a large, versatile resource company located in North America, with around 10,000 employees. They have operations and projects going on within and beyond Canada, U.S., Chile, and Peru. They produce essential materials like copper and coal, and are leaders in sustainability; committed to conducting responsible resource development. With 1,500 wireless devices to keep track of, this company needed a way to start managing their inventory, and more importantly, their overall wireless costs.

This company struggled to keep track of what users were doing, and often had no idea where much of their wireless spend was going. Business unit managers were not being held accountable for their costs, and end-users had no visibility over their usage. With so many employees and devices to worry about, and no wireless cost management in place, cost visibility was a major challenge. Departments were unable to see how much they were collectively spending, and users lacked clarity over their own digital trail. This lead to end-users frequently surpassing their wireless usage limits, leading to countless surcharges with no accountability. Overall, there was a major lack of clarity over the company’s mobility spend. Eventually, the company decided it was time to seek out a solution. The company came across the idea of outsourcing the management of their wireless costs to a TEM vendor. The company began to speak with customers of Cimpl, and they conducted surveys with users of similar solutions in the marketplace. They were very diligent in their evaluation process. As the company was able to easily and quickly get in contact with us, they eventually decided we were the right fit to meet their wireless expense management needs.

“It’s clean, and easy to use. Everything just works.”

– Telecom Analyst, Large Resource Company

Once the resource company implemented Cimpl, things quickly became more organized and efficient. Through using Cimpl, individual users were able to view their usage clearly in their dashboards, with comparisons to the overall corporate average. Visible usage helped promote cost transparency within the firm, and lead to users becoming more aware of their overages. With so much data being made visible in a clean and organized dashboard, employees and managers alike can now see how their actions impact the company’s bottom line. End-users became less inclined to exceed their usage limits, and immediately provide feedback to their managers on their user statements when costs seem out of norms. In using the Active Directory-AD hierarchy integration, costs could be easily mapped out over a hierarchy based on multiple levels of management. Cimpl provides clear-cut cost transparency for each user as well as by departments, leading to consumption changes. With such a huge jump from no visibility to total visibility over usage, the multi-national company experienced a drop in international roaming charges.

In taking advantage of Cimpl’s zero-usage report, the company was able to identify old devices and assets that had been incurring charges despite being totally inactive, thus saving them money. Cimpl’s contract comparison tactics helped the resource company seek out unnoticed billing errors, such as double billings, missing discounts and features, and overcharges. Just in comparing their rate plan contract to their actual billings, Cimpl was able to immediately recover 10% of the firm’s monthly wireless costs.

 Cimpl continues to work closely with our customer, continually asking for their feedback on their use of our Cimpl platform. Our platform provides the tools and assistance needed to keep track of the businesses’ Enterprise Digital Footprint, demonstrating usage and allocating costs to specific individuals through the Employee Digital Trails. This allows you to not only understand who owns what, how much they’re using, and what it’s costing, but also to alter consumption behaviours by encouraging employees to moderate their usage and avoid exceeding their limits.

Cimpl brings our customers ROI by fulfilling our brand promises of:

1) Cost Savings - through promoting cost allocation, cost avoidance, and cost optimization;

2) Time Savings – by bringing together actionable data analytics and automating everyday tasks; and
