Ride Big, Live Big : Cimpl participates in Big Bike 2016

Posted by Caroline Le Brun | June 3, 2016 3:00 PM

The last Big Bike event took place on May 31, 2016. Organised by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the event takes place every year in various locations across Canada. Bikers gather in teams of 29 and every participant works together as a team to move one giant bicycle! The goal of the event is to raise funds for research on cardiovascular diseases. The participating teams have about two months to collect as many donations as possible for the foundation.

Cimpl’s seventh participation

Cimpl is quite familiar with Big Bike as 2016 marks the company’s seventh participation in the event. Cimpl’s 29 riders rode with dash last Tuesday in Pointe-Claire, under a bright sun. Bells and maracas in hand, the team completed the run, waving – as they rode – by pedestrians and car drivers with whom they were sharing the road.

Cimpl’s team pedaled hard during the challenge and it’s with the same drive that the participants searched for sponsors and donations during the whole month of May. We are very proud to announce that this year, our team raised more than $5,400 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation!

Live Big with healthy habits

80 % of premature cardiovascular diseases and stroke can be avoided by developing healthy life habits.  That is why the Big Bike event is also trying to promote healthy habits among Canadians:

  1. Be physically active
  2. Eat healthy food
  3. Avoid smoking
  4. Limit alcohol consumption
  5. Control stress

These 5 factors could have a major impact on your quality of life. Include them in your lifestyle and your body will thank you for it!

A cause at the heart of Cimpl

Cimpl’s members are contributing to the Heart and Stroke Foundation each year in memory of a past coworkers who died of heart disease a few years ago. The fact is, an estimate of 1,6 million Canadians live with cardiovascular diseases or like symptoms due to stroke.  A scary statistic that can be improved with the effort of all Canadians. The Heart and Stroke Foundation uses donations to improve access to quality hospital treatments, promote recovery and support patients’ families.  The foundation’s mission align perfectly with Cimpl core values, and provides us with the ability to showcase our company culture. This is why we participate in this event each year.

Cimpl is already excited to ride the 2017 Big Bike! What about you, are you up for the challenge?
