How Does a Company Go Speed DaTIng?

How does a company go Speed daTIng?  That’s an interesting question, now isn’t it?

By now, most of us have heard of speed dating, right? It’s a really fast matchmaking process where someone meets a very large number of new people in one sitting. After the meeting, if any of the new people met are interested, contact information is exchanged for later, more regular dating.

Right. So, how does a company go speed daTIng? Well, as it turns out, it’s all in the details!

A professional networking event by Action TI

Meet us at the Speed daTIng 2.0 event!Did you notice the way I’ve spelled “Speed daTIng” here? How “TI” is capitalized? That’s the detail: Speed daTIng 2.0 is a Quebec-based networking event for IT professionals that’s put together by Action TI Laval, Laurentides & Lanaudière. The event takes place on April 15, 2015 from 5:30pm till 9pm at the Palace Convention Center (1717 Le Corbusier Boulevard, Laval, Quebec, H7S 2K7).

Action TI is the province’s association of IT professionals that’s been educating and advocating for IT professionals for 35 years. Now, as to why it’s called Action TI – it’s because TI stands “technologies de l’information” – French for IT. You see what they did there?

So, that’s the reason for the name; now what about the event? It actually does follow the typical speed dating mold – it just doesn’t end in romance, just potential business partnerships. At Speed daTIng, IT professionals of all stripes who go to this event are put into groups of three or four.

Caroline Le Brun, Marketing ManagerThese groups are then given the opportunity to go on five-minute “dates” with 15 event sponsors. These sponsors are made up of IT professionals in a variety of subdomains, and the five-minute “date” is a neat little introductory presentation.

Basically, in every one of these dates, the sponsor gives a quick five-minute presentation on what his particular IT field, innovation, or product may be to the others. During this five-minute period, those listening to the presentation can ask questions to get more information. At the end of the presentation, the parties separate and move on to other “dates”.

At the end of the dates, attendees have the option to explore further contact options from the presenters they found the most interesting and/or useful. The whole process repeats itself for over two hours. It’s a fun, fast way to learn about cutting-edge IT innovations and to meet new potential partners in a streamlined process. It was obviously successful last time (over 50 IT business showed up at Speed dating 1.0); it promises to be even bigger this time!

DaTIng for innovation

As you can probably guess, this is the type of event that both pushes the boundaries of knowledge and creates business opportunities. That’s why it’s sponsored by the Laval Technopole (Laval’s economic development association) and the Business Development Bank of Canada (the only bank that’s dedicated to supporting entrepreneurship).

That’s why Etelesolv is participating at the event. Caroline Le Brun, Etelesolv’s Marketing Manager will be showing off Etelesolv at Speed daTIng 2.0. What will she be bringing to the table?

Well, we have patented, next-generation technologies to control IT and telecom expenses as well as a powerful vision for how to manage technology for business in the coming years. That technology and vision are at the core of our just-released IT asset and service management solution, Cimpl.

And we’ve been spreading the word on the rewards of adopting our management framework, the Enterprise Digital Footprint – where all usage and cost data is managed in a single repository for clarity and ease of management. IT and telecom expense management doesn't have to be hard. Participating in Speed daTIng 2.0 is just one more way to show everyone how intuitive it can be to take back control of the IT budget.

Register for Speed daTIng 2.0 to enrich your IT knowledge and for a fun evening.  See you there!
