Maybe you didn’t know but today is International Women’s day. So it’s the perfect day to celebrate women’s achievements in various fields and domains. As an IT and telecom expense management company, Cimpl acknowledges that the IT industry is typically seen as a “male dominated” industry. That is why Cimpl has tried for many years now to change the trend.

Women_day_blog_1.jpgCimpl has come a long way since its debut as a startup eCommerce in 2000. Back then,
Cimpl’s team was entirely composed of men. The company's first office location didn’t even have a women’s restroom! Fortunately, the Cimpl environment has changed tremendously over the past decade. The company now employs many women in various departments - it's just part of our company culture!

On this International Women’s day, Cimpl wanted to celebrate and thank the women working in the office for their daily accomplishments in this “boys' club” industry.  Every day, they show that gender does not matter in any industry and together, they build the path for the next generation of women. To surprise its hardworking employees, Cimpl left flowers at every women’s desk this morning and during our daily company’s meeting, one employee spoke on the behalf of all men in the office to thank women for their presence and their work. Two women also took this opportunity to say a few words on gender parity. One employee read an inspiring quote from Malala Yousafzai: “I speak not for myself but for those without voice... those who have fought for their rights... their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated.”

This year’s theme for International Women’s day is gender parity. Although progress has been made in our society regarding gender parity, there’s still improvement to be done. Cimpl hopes other companies acknowledge that gender makes no difference in business and that all genders should have equal rights.

Happy International Women’s day everybody!
