Why Should You Consider Telecom Expense Management?

Posted by Caroline Le Brun | April 11, 2013 8:49 AM

Most companies underestimate the strong potential of TEM solutions, though it is just a step away...

Most companies see the Telecom Expense Management solution only as stopgap mechanism, when it is way more than that. Beyond remarkable saving potentials, we talk about visibility, control and realtime information.

Experts agree that over the last years mobile devices are the most widely adopted consumer technology in history, right after unbeatable number one: radio. Hence it is why we can see them everywhere and why people carry them all the time, well they are always lighter, smaller and faster, but it does not stop here! They take part in our everyday life, we could say, they are members of the family! Naturally companies came to encourage employees to bring them at work when offering BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).

As you may know, BYOD comes with benefits and inconvenients (you can read our other blogs about this debate - links below). The security aspect is the most debated one, mainly when it comes to the easy access to corporate data, for example when you lose your device or leave it unattended. That is why companies need visibility.

Companies need to take back control on their IT assets. They need to be able to locate their goods, they need to know who uses them, when and how. This way they can restrict, cancel, upgrade, add applications or services. In one word they want to directly interact and manage all of them from one place. They will get cost transparency and pay for what is really used for the company, they will get security. The cherry on the sundae: We want it all in realtime! I do not feel greedy, it is 2013!

Six months ago Gartner wrote in “Critical Capabilities for Mobile Device Management” that the “Mobile device management offerings are expanding from traditional configurations, policy management, IT administration and reporting to deeper security [...] Traditional Mobile Device Management capabilities such as provisioning, policy enforcement, asset management, administration and reporting, are begging to standardize across multiple offerings.”

When it comes to transparency of telecommunications costs, we have a very simple strategy: We centralize to decentralize! Thanks to our software plateform, Cimpl, we provide businesses with the solution to self-manage the data environment within a broader IT Governance policy. It gives companies a better approach to  Telecom and IT management and empowers their mobile workforce to self-manage!
