Back in April of 2012 Comark was looking for a Telecom Expense Management (TEM) software to manage their fleet of wireless and wired line communications.
Comark has been operating in the ultra-competitive retail space for more than 36 years. The initiative was a part of the company’s ongoing review of looking at how they can improve organizational processes.
With over 300 retail stores located across Canada, operating under 3 divisions (Ricki’s, Bootleggers, and Cleo), phone lines needed to be identified for each business unit in order to piece together a fuller and more complete image of the telecom environment.
During the last few months our implementation team at Etelesolv (now Cimpl) has been working with Comark to identify phone lines through provider portals and accounting systems to get an idea of “the size of [telecom] the monster”.
“What we had was ok, it wasn’t out of control, but we didn’t know the size of the monster. I think we’re now getting a much better picture of its size and being able to tame it.”
Armed with information about what they have, who has what, and how much it costs, the company can now start looking at their inventory in entirety to see if stores are over-utilizing, have a surplus in services, or require new services to optimize wireless and wired line costs across all of their store locations.
